I grew up in Minnesota working most of my life on the family sod farm and then moved to Texas in 2005 working along the way to pursue the dream of fishing for a living. With determination to make it happen, I wound up qualifying for the Elite Tour through the 2006 Bassmaster Northern Tour. Competing alongside with some of the best anglers in the world, I entered and won my first Elite Series tournament on Lake Amistad and followed up with a 2nd place finish on the California Delta the following week. It was a great way to start the year and finished even better when I won the 2007 Rookie of the Year. Adding Guide Services on the legendary Lake Guntersville to my resume, I’m happy to say I fish for a living. Wouldn’t have it any other way – Derek

BOOK A DAY TO REMEMBER

FISH WITH A PRO – DEREK REMITZ

I have lived here and have been fishing Lake Guntersville for 7 years. Our day on the water will include informative tips and tactics that I personally use for patterning fish and following fish during seasonal movements as well as breaking down a lake and what I look for while searching for fish.

We’ll be fishing out of the new 2015 Triton and Mercury rig with Humminbird electronics — the same boat I use during tournaments. I’ll also provide all the gear necessary along with tournament-tested baits from some of my sponsors including Omega Custom Tackle and Gary Yamamoto Baits. And you’re more then welcome to bring your own gear if you prefer.

Lake Guntersville is known as one of the best bass fishing lakes in the world. Hiring a professional guide is highly recommended to have a successful fishing trip on the lake.  Depending on the season, different techniques are used, such as topwater baits, crankbaits, and jigs. The best times to fish are in the early morning or late afternoon, as the fish tend to be more active during these times. A guided fishing trip on Lake Guntersville is an ideal experience for both novice and experienced anglers looking to land big catches.

WHAT TO BRING

A valid fishing license (purchase online here), Sunscreen, Sunglasses, Camera and proper clothing for that days fishing. Weather report can be provided the day before. As well as any other things that you will need for a day on the boat. Water, soft drinks and plenty of ice on board to keep your lunch fresh.

WHERE TO STAY

For the best accommodations on Lake Guntersville, make reservations to stay at the Waterfront Bay Cabin Rentals. Tell them Derek Remitz sent you and they’ll take care of you. We’ll also pick you up here for our day on the water.
